I still have the first thank you note a student gave me. It was written on loose-leaf
in shaky script and is one of the most beautiful notes I have. There is power in paper.
Wheel One: In the Beginning
I am a self-taught designer, school counselor, and mother of two. I started this company after the birth of my son three years ago. The generosity of our family and friends meant I had a lot of thank you notes to write. The problem was I couldn't seem to find stationery that felt quite like, well, me. So I sat down at my laptop with some software and a few design manuals and began to play around with colors and patterns and ideas.Wheel Two: Getting Rolling
When a close friend had a baby, I offered to design the birth announcement. When another asked for a birthday invitation and a third wanted note cards for her daughter, I began to think I might be onto something. Maybe I wasn't the only one who couldn't find what she wanted at card stores and stationery shops. And so a business, albeit a small one, was born. I had recently given birth to my daughter and, inspired by all things girly and home for long wintry days while it was too cold to take her outside I began to really work on getting a line of products together.Wheel Three: In Motion
Modern paper for the modern family is my goal with everything I produce. So much is done so quickly now, that it's rare to get a handwritten note from a child saying thank you. And while an e-mail noting the arrival of a newborn is always welcome, there's something far more special about an announcement you put in the mail to celebrate the occasion. I stand behind every product I design, and I will work with you to make sure that whatever it is you've commissioned for design feels like, well, you.
